Description of Eurocontrol
The Concise Publication of the European Union describes eurocontrol in the following terms: [1] Eurocontrol, founded in 1960 with its headquarters in Brussels, is inoperative and in regular danger of being closed down. If properly activated, it could be one of the EU's more useful bodies. Its object is co-ordinated air traffic control - an urgent need in Europe, where control of airspace is jealously guarded by national governments and co-operation is inadequate, causing unnecessary risk and delays to passengers.
