Description of European Communities
The Concise Publication of the European Union describes european communities in the following terms: [1] The European Coal and Steel Community, the European Economic Communityand the European Atomic Energy Community. In 1967 the three Communities were effectively merged by being given a common Council of Ministers, a common Commission and soon afterwards a common budget. Technically still distinct, they became collectively known as the European Community.
